Today I wanted to look at the discussion that’s been brewing on the site as to whether a person who makes a concerted effort to de-culture yoga is whitewashing the tradition or simply making it more accessible to people who don’t understand squiggly. Jackson, about how yoga makes people susceptible to Satanic possession. I have no more desire to recite the Bible as I do any Hindu religious text. His seminal book, ‘Light on Yoga’, is widely called ‘the bible of yoga’ and has served as the source book for generations of yoga students around the world. Light on Yoga has become the bible for hundreds of thousands of people who practice yoga daily for exercise, meditation, or simply relaxation. I’m assuming that when Al Mohler says “the Word of God,” he’s referring to the Bible and not Jesus Himself, because he presents the external Word of God as a contrast to “connecting to and coming to know the divine” through the human body. Iyengar has translated each one, providing an insightful commentary and explanation for modern readers, as well as linking the various themes throughout the sutras to one another. In ‘Core of the Yoga Sutras’, he applies this same clarity to the B.K.S.
